Google Analytics is known for its tracking capability, it tracks how much users come to your website or app in a day, in a month or even in a year. It gives us a complete idea about our site’s or app’s progress whether it’s growing or getting down.

This feature is known as Acquisition in Google Analytics where you get to know about, how much old users plus new users are coming every month, how many users were live in last 30 minutes, and their location from where they are accessing your website or application.

2. Traffic Source Tracking

Google Analytics not only tracks number of users, infect it gives complete data about how many user are coming into your website along with that, from which source they are coming , this feature is known as Traffic Source in Google Analytics under Acquisition.

Traffic Source feature provides you the data about the user’s platform from where they are coming to your website or app, for example, Google, YouTube, Facebook or by directly entering the URL of your website or app.

3. User Activity Tracking

This feature is the most useful feature in Google Analytics, it gives the idea about the user behavior of the website or app, it provides the data like, how many old users are coming to the website, how much time users are spending their time in the website or app, what events they are performing in the website like page view, scrolling, visiting etc. This feature is known as Engagement in Google Analytics.

4. Real-time Users Tracking

Google Analytics has real time user tracking too, which provides the data about, how much users are currently active in your website or application, how many users were live in last 30 minutes, how many users are live from different locations in your website. You get a world map, where live users will be blinking with a blue circle in the world map. These blue blinking circles are the users of your website or application.

5. Users Demographics Tracking

Google Analytics tracks user demographics too along with traffic and user activity, in the user demographics tracking feature, you get the data like how many users are coming from different locations, their location is known as Demographics in Google Analytics, it gives users demographics idea to website or app owners so that they can understand from where their most of the audiences belong.

How to Understand and Improve User Behavior using Google Analytics?

To understand user behavior in Google Analytics, you need to go to overview option under Engagement tab. In the overview option, you get complete idea about the user activity of your site or app.

By seeing the engagement duration time, and first click on landing pages, you can understand your audience are enjoying with your content or not, if you have very less engagement time in your website or application, that means, users are not enjoying with your content, you need to make appropriate changes to increase the engagement time.

You should also check the trending pages of your website and make contents accordingly. Also, you can check the old users/returning users, if old users are more than the new users, that means, visitors are enjoying with your content and coming back too.

How to Use Google Analytics for SEO?

Every SEO experts use Google Analytics but they don’t tell to anyone. Google Analytics is really helpful when in comes about SEO, because Google Analytics help you to understand each and every factor about your website, whether it’s your traffic, user activity, demographics and trending pages.

So firstly, clearly understand your website traffic, whether it’s getting down or up, secondly, understand the engagement time of the visitors, if it is more than 1-2 minutes or not, and then check out your trending pages like what kind of your content your audience enjoy and make contents accordingly.

Additionally, you can also improve your SEO by analyzing your traffic sources, you can see which keywords people are using to find your site. You can then use this information to optimize your website content and target the right keywords. Also, Google Analytics can help you identify any technical SEO issues on your website, such as broken links or slow loading times.

How to Get started with Google Analytics?

Getting started with Google Analytics is very easy, just follow our few steps and that’s all, you don’t need to do any complex steps. Here is the example:

1. Create Google Analytics Account 

  • First create Google Analytics account by visiting the official Google Analytics Website from Google search.
  • Then, Click on “Start measuring” this will initiate the account creation process.
  • After that, You’ll be prompted to sign in with your existing Google account. If you don’t have one, you can create a new account during this process.
  • Once signed in, Google Analytics will guide you through setting up your account and property.

2. Create a Property

  • After creating your account, you will need to create a property. A property represents your website or app.
  • Then, go to admin tab in the left navigation bar. This will open the admin panel.
  • Then, within the Admin panel, locate the Property column. Click the blue Create Property button.
  • Then, a new window will appear for creating a new property. Provide a descriptive name for your website or app in the Website name field. This will help you easily identify the property later.
  • After that, You’ll also be asked to choose your Industry category and Business size. These selections help Google Analytics personalize the reports and insights presented to you.
  • Once you’ve entered the details and reviewed your selections, click the Create button to finalize the property creation process.

3. Implement Tracking

  • This is where Google Analytics collects data. After creating the property, Google Analytics will provide you with a tracking code snippet.
  • You’ll need to integrate this code into your website or app’s code to start collecting data.
  • If you’re using WordPress, then go to appearance section of your site from the left corner, then click on Theme File Editor.
  • Then open your site’s header.php, and simply paste that property code in between the staring head and ending head tag. That’s all.
